Absence in term time

Absence due to family holiday is too high in our school and too many children miss education by taking term-time leave of absence.

In September 2013 the government introduced new regulations which state that:

Headteachers may not grant any leave of absence during term time unless there are exceptional circumstances. The staff and governors at Wigton Moor have already revised our current policy in line with the new regulations and this is available to view on the school website.

In short, holidays will no longer be authorised by the Headteacher.

Leave of absence can only be authorised in exceptional circumstances.

Receiving a full school education is essential for all children to make the best progress they can. We're sure you will support us in improving attendance and will choose to take family holidays out of term time.
